THE GOAL
Quest Nature Center at Latta Nature Preserve (Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, NC) had new funding for a junior ranger program — and a nature center manager who wanted the journal to feel like this preserve, not any preserve.

WHAT WE MADE
A 28-page custom nature journal, 1,000 copies, designed page-by-page to fit a county budget line.

THE DESIGN STORY
Prescribed fire shapes this landscape, so we built an activity around it: kids find the burn signs along the trail, then smear charred topsoil straight onto the page and compare it with soil that's never burned. The preserve literally ends up in the book.
