THE GOAL: Tennessee State Parks was building an all-abilities sensory trail at Paris Landing State Park — and the interpretive panels needed to work for visitors who experience the park through touch.

WHAT WE MADE: Five cast-bronze tactile elements for the trail's wayside panels: a red-tailed hawk talon and feather, cherry tree bark, oak leaves, the parts of a flower, and the life cycle of a frog — each with raised labels.

THE DESIGN STORY: The talon and feather weren't sculpted from reference photos. Park staff shipped us the real objects, and we 3D-scanned and cast them in bronze — so a visitor reading the panel with their hands is feeling the shape of the actual bird.
