Prioritize Diversity

Just as biodiversity strengthens a habitat, diversity strengthens your organization internally and externally.

Diversifying your visitation must be seen as a business imperative and be actively pursued. Can your organization demonstrate that diversifying visitation is a priority? If not, here are some places to start:

  • Consult with your community. 

  • Include diversity goals in your mission and core values.

  • Recognize and acknowledge the history of inequitable outdoor access in your community.

  • Establish a Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council.

  • Include diversity, equity, and inclusion impacts as a standard priority in project reviews. 

  • Understand and communicate the business need to serve diverse audiences.
