Sycamore Park — Fort Worth

TTHE GOAL
The City of Fort Worth was opening the north half of Sycamore Park on the bones of a closed golf course, and needed visitors to understand what they were walking into. They wanted to tell the stories of a prairie coming back, a green infastructure, and a hundred years of neighborhood history on the same ground.

WHAT WE MADE
Five interpretive waysides and two visitor orientation panels, planned, written, designed, and fabricated on powder-coated bases. Project kickoff to delivery in under six months.

THE DESIGN STORY
The park’s own history did the work. Digging through a local historian’s manuscript, we found that Fort Worth’s revived Juneteenth celebration was first held here in 1974 — so A Place to Play tells the story of a park that has been a gathering place for a century, not just a list of amenities.

THE PROOF

“These are really beautiful. This will be such a great addition to Sycamore!”
— Rena Lawrence, Historic Site Supervisor, Fort Worth Park & Recreation
